Marcus Aurelius on relationship with our story

Marcus Aurelius (Roman Emperor from 161 to 180 AD), kept a journal that survived the millennia, now called "The Meditations". Discovering the profound in the midst of his every day concerns delights me. He reaches out to me across the millennia along one of the common threads of our humanity:
"If you are pained by external things, it is not they that disturb you, but your own judgment of them. And it is in your power to wipe out that judgment now." Marcus Aurelius
Another way of saying this, and perhaps a little more softly, is this: We can change our relationship with the story that is driving our #InternalVoice so that what we resonate with, how we respond internally to what we resonate with, and what we do about it is more productive, constructive and has a kinder effect on ourselves and our world.
